Sunsetting Milkomeda Algorand A1

With the recent announcement from the Milkomeda team that the Milkomeda Algorand A1 Rollup is being shut down, it is with a sad heart that the Blueshift Algorand A1 integration will too come to an end.

The A1 chain intended to help bring EVM capabilities to the Algorand blockchain allowing developers to deploy existing EVM decentralized applications on Milkomeda Algorand A1 and take advantage of Algorand’s security and instant finality.

The decision to show down Milkomeda Algorand A1 was a tough decision by the Milkomeda team but due to the low transaction volume, it was no longer sustainable to keep it operating and will cease operations at the end of May 2024.

We had high hopes for the Algorand ecosystem along with other EVM applications deploying on A1 to help increase the developer ecosystem. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. With the bear market downturn and various occurrences in the Algorand ecosystem, there was little interest and growth for Blueshift and A1 stalled.

On the flipside, the Milkomeda Cardano C1 sidechain is doing very well and has grown strongly over the past few months. With the introduction of Wrapped Smart Contracts and the ability for Cardano native wallets to interact with the Milkomeda ecosystem directly and with other protocols joining and launching on Milkomeda, we shall see more growth in 2024.

Guidance for Blueshift DEX Users

Users on the Blueshift DEX that have assets on A1 are asked to move their assets off the exchange. The best and easiest path forward is to exchange your assets for milkAlgo and then bridge those assets back over to Algorand itself. Rewards that aren’t harvestable from our auto HODL yield pools will be unfortunately lost with this closure.

Our other bridging partners are no longer operating on A1 and will not be able to assist in the movement of assets from A1.

We’d like to thank all of our partners, and projects that have joined us and had come along for the journey with us on Algorand A1. We are saddened that we have come to an end with so much time, work and effort put into the Algorand ecosystem to potentially launch the Algorand Index, an Index created with the top performing projects on Algorand we could have seen some exciting trading opportunities and growth on the chain.
